Thanks to winning a free ticket to Paris, I left my little sunny island and went backpacking alone in Europe. It was the most expensive vacation of my life and the last time I stayed at a hotel. I have to admit it was daunting at the beginning but everything else just falls into place as you go along. The following year I spent two months in Thailand and earned myself a CELTA certificate with which I’d hoped would take me around the world. Finally landed an English teaching job in China and before you know it, it has been two years and I now find myself writing this in my little duplex, in a hutong in Beijing.
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move. - Robert Louis Stevenson
